Here are the pics from my latest commission for Zizzi – Hitchin is a beautiful market town in Hertfordshire and this one was a real pleasure!
Hitchin was one of the few areas which produced Lavender back in the day, so I was sure to include it in the piece. Also, Hitchin was home to one of the first major slum clearances in 1926, and over 100 slum cottages were torn down and replaced with habitable houses for the families of the town.
An engraving on the stone steps opposite the church commemorates this move by the council, opposite the fountain in the square.
I love the colours the Zizzi design team have used in this restaurant - really bright, airy and colourful!
